Researching and Analysing Intelligence Systems

Researching and analysing intelligence systems is the sixth stage in the investigation process. This stage revolves around going into a lot of depth into previous crimes that have been committed in the general area. The try to find out who is committing crimes in that area and their motives to do it, they then compare the information found with the current case that is being investigated to see if their is any clear links between the two cases. When analysing other crimes the police have know who, how, where and why about that crime so they can compare that to the current crime. If the two crimes where to link up then more crimes in the area must be examined to see if their is a crime trend in the area which could point the police towards a certain suspect who had been found during previous stages of the process.

In the case where OJ Simpson allegedly murdered Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald, OJ was seen as the perpetrator of the crime by the police, this was not only because nearly all of the evidence found at the scene and at his home linked him to the crime but also the research that was done on him proved that he can be a very aggressive and violent man.

During their marriage Nicole had made many phone calls to the police claiming that OJ had been beaten her and threatened to kill her, this was not a one off occasion, multiple calls had been made to the police over the coarse of their marriage. It was also found that OJ was extremely protective of Nicole when they where together and did not like her speaking to other men. Police saw this as OJ's motive to kill Ronald Goldman as it was thought that he and Nicole were dating at the time of the murder.
